The
Community Association
Darragh Cross has been going
through a lot of change over recent years as more houses go up, more children enter the community and people from all sections
of society become resident in Darragh Cross. While the controlled growth of Darragh Cross is welcomed, with that growth comes
new challenges to an area of much tradition and what years ago was a quite rural hamlet.
It soon became clear that Darragh Cross had no formal voice or mechanism to address these issues with the
relevant authorities. A clear message was coming back that Darragh Cross needed to setup a Community Association for the area,
a Community Association that is inclusive, cross community, transparent but respectful of the history, culture and traditions
of Darragh Cross area. A Community Association that .........
- Will work to improve the overall way of life for Darragh Cross;
- that would liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies in the interest
of Darragh Cross
- that would
facilitate contact between the local community and agencies such as District Councils, DOE, Social Services, Politicians,
Political Parties, Education boards, organisations in neighbouring communities
- that would continue to promote the traditions, history and culture of the
community
- that will work closely with the local GAA to promote and develop the excellent
facility for everyone in the community to enjoy and participate in Gaelic games
The Community Association will try addressing the social, economic and environmental needs of Darragh Cross.
Darragh Cross Community Association is a formal and legal organisation,
bound by a constitution, is cross community, was elected by the community and will be used to improve the overall
standard of life of all the residents and children of Darragh Cross and district.
